Swagger Dagger: The Journey to “Because It Was Nothing” The Making of Something Out of Nothing
Because It Was Nothing Arrives This Year as the Artist’s Most Vulnerable and Honest Project Yet
Independent hip-hop artist Swagger Dagger is proud to announce the upcoming release of his third studio album, Because It Was Nothing, a deeply personal and introspective body of work that confronts the complexities of identity, perseverance, and purpose in today’s music landscape.
Following the release of 2024’s breakout single “25/29,” Swagger Dagger (28) gained attention for his raw storytelling and cinematic soundscapes. “25/29 wasn’t just a song,” he says, “it was a sonic timestamp—a reflection of where I was emotionally, mentally, and artistically.” That moment of clarity set the stage for the creative leap that would become his most powerful project to date.
“Creating this album hit differently,” he explains. “As an independent artist, you’re constantly up against algorithms, comparisons, and self-doubt. There’s no label. No manager. Every email, studio session, and promo run—I’m doing that myself. But through all the noise, this album became something real.”
Because It Was Nothing explores late-night thoughts, unspoken fears, and the weight of ambition with a fearless honesty. “It’s not about chasing trends or metrics. It’s about what I needed to say to survive, to process, to understand who I am—not just as Swagger Dagger, but as a human being.”
While Swagger Dagger remains unsigned and self-managed, his message is one of resilience, gratitude, and creative freedom. “Being independent doesn’t mean I’m alone. It just means every win is twice as hard—and twice as rewarding.”
The album is slated for release later this year. Whether it reaches one listener or a million, Swagger Dagger says the impact has already been made. “This project reminded me why I started. That my voice matters—even if it’s not the loudest in the room.”
